Liu was a star for the University of Nevada swim team during the 1990’s and is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. She went on to win a silver medal in the 100 meter butterfly during the 1996 Atlanta Summer Games.
Those were also the Games in which Savery and her teammates won a synchronized swimming gold medal. Savery is now the Chief of Sustainability for next year’s America’s Cup Yachting competetion in San Francisco.
“We’re all very excited about the upcoming Games in London,” said Hawley MacLean. “To have athletes joining us for the reception who competed for different countries at the Games speaks to what the Olympics represent, bringing the world together for peace through sport.”
The reception is also a way to thank those who have contributed to the ongoing efforts of the RTWGC to promote the Olympic Movement throughout the region and to help raise funds for those programs.
“From participating in “World Fit” as well as Olympic Day and providing physical education classes at local schools the RTWGC is committed to the youth of our region,” Jon Killoran, RTWGC Chief Executive Officer said.
