Friday night, October 17 will shine in the Paradise Ballroom of the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa as the Class of 2014 will be inducted into the Reno Tahoe International Sports Hall of Fame.
This will be the fourth year of inductions after the Reno Tahoe Winter Games Coalition (RTWGC) resurrected the Sports Hall of Fame to honor the achievements of athletes, coaches and sports pioneers from throughout the region. Proceeds from the dinner gala help the RTWGC promote Reno-Tahoe and the State of Nevada as a world-class sports tourism destination and potential future host of the Olympic Winter Games.
Past inductees include Olympic skiers Tamara McKinney, Shannon Bahrke, Daron Rahlves and Franz Weber, rodeo announcer Bob Tallman, baseball pitcher Shawn Estes, bowler Pam Buckner and high school football coach Joe Sellers.
The RTWGC’s Selection committee comprised of the organization’s leadership and some of the past inductees recently met to nominate this year’s induction class. Those nominees have been contacted and we are waiting for confirmation of their attendance before publicizing the induction class…so stay tuned.
